Original Johnnycake Recipe

1 egg
4 teaspoons sugar
1 cup buttermilk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
Mix together;
Now in separate bowl,
Sift together dry ingredients:
1/2 cup yellow or white
cornmeal
1/2 cup unbleached flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Add dry mixture to liquid
mixture and mix well;
Pour into 2 8" diameter
pie tins.
Bake at 375° oven for
20 minutes and golden brown (Batter will be thin)
